Hi neighbors and friends of Camp Lincoln Road,
As many of you know, there has been some interest and discussion about the idea of pursuing a state Rustic Road designation for Camp Lincoln Road. I am attaching a short fact sheet and proposal that explains the designation, why Camp Lincoln Road is a strong candidate, and the steps involved.
Camp Lincoln Road is already recognized by the City of Nisswa as a scenic road. City records from 2020 refer to Camp Lincoln Road as a designated scenic road in the context of preserving public access, natural beauty, and the special character of this area.
The Rustic Road designation would build on that existing recognition. It would not replace the scenic road status or suggest that anything urgent is happening. I am not aware of any immediate plan or active discussion about widening the road. My thinking is that we should be proactive and do our best to preserve Camp Lincoln Road’s scenic, natural, and historic character, and formally honor it for what it already is: a rustic road.
The benefit of Rustic Road designation is that it gives the road a clearer framework under Minnesota law. A Rustic Road is intended for roads with scenic beauty or outstanding natural features, low traffic volume, year-round local access, and a speed limit of 45 mph or less. Camp Lincoln Road is already posted at 30 mph. The designation would still allow normal maintenance and safety work, but it would help reinforce the road’s low-speed, local-access, scenic character when future decisions are made.
Tom, the City Public Works Department Head, recommended that this be placed on the agenda, and the meeting date is now confirmed for June 24 at 5:00 PM.
For now, I am gathering signatures and comments from neighbors who support this effort.
Please reply and let me know if I may add your name to the support sheet. Please include your name, address, email, phone number and the date, and I will save your email. Also, please feel free to include a brief comment about why this road matters to you.
I would also appreciate knowing if you are interested in attending the Public Works meeting on June 24.
Thank you,
Monica Anderson

What’s happening at the lake?
Spring has arrived!
Ice-out was April 19, 2026
The loons are nesting!
As of mid June we have 2 nesting pairs. The platform in the bay has 2 eggs and the northeast platform has 1 remaining egg. That platform has taken a major beating in the relentless winds, and one of the original 2 eggs was lost. We should have loon chicks in the second week of June!

2025 Summer Social!
We had another wonderful Summer Social at the Wieland’s place. It was hot, but no complaints! A special treat occurred when 2 fine musicians from the Lakes Area Music Festival stopped by for a mini concert!

We had hot weather for the July 4, 2025 boat parade! It was still a great success.

The 2025 Annual Meeting was a success! Jim Hall did a great job for his first meeting as president.
We had 2 baby loons in summer, 2025!
Once again, we had 2 loon families on the lake with 2 chicks each! The first two were born on June 2, 2025 and the second two hatched on June 9! Unfortunately, the younger pair was predated, so we ended up with 2 new loons last summer.
